Abstract "communicate" piece

Visual communications

This week I have began my 2 week elective of Viscom, so far I am finding it very interesting and definitely the subject choice I want to make. My word is communicate. I brainstormed the idea and drew up thumbnails of people communicating through both body language and technology. Today I have decided to focus more on the technological side of communication seeing as today people communicate more through their phones and social networking than in person.

I found this video very difficult and time onsuming but it was very rewarding once the piece had been composed

For my photography assessment I have decided to make a 3 minute stop motion based on suicide. My storyboard is based on a young man walking through town and finding a bridge to jump off. So far I have been finding it very difficult to produce the stop motion but the piece is beginning to come together after looking up many other examples of stop motion on youtube

Dough!

While experimenting with nests I decided to create my own out of salt dough to mimic the textures and shapes of the nest. I used tin foil to create the basic shape and most of the texture the rest I created with a knife and my hands. I used dough as when I went to look for nests they seem to be made up with a lot of mud and soil.
